Ryan McMurtrey

Ryan McMurtrey joined our practice in 2006 to work under the direction of Dr. Petersen as our Certified Orthoptist. Ryan and his wife, Karin, are parents of four children. Music is a great part of their family life as Ryan has participated heavily in vocal performance, Karin is a skilled pianist and their three daughters all play violin. Ryan is fluent in Spanish and loves the opportunity to interact with patients of all ages that are experiencing problems resulting from eye misalignment.
He loves being a part of the team here at Rocky Mountain Eye Care Associates.
Specialties
Ryan’s role is to evaluate adults and children who suffer from eye misalignment problems which can result in double vision and even loss of vision in some cases. He is the only Certified Orthoptist practicing in the state of Utah at this time. He is a member of the American Association of Certified Orthoptists, orthoptist member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and also participates in research with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group. He is certified by the American Orthoptic Association.

- Worked for a short period of time in Richmond, Virginia before moving back to Utah
