Myopia Management
Myopia management is an approach to slow the progression of myopia in children. It’s crucial to start early to reduce the risk of severe myopia and its associated complications. Our goal is to provide effective solutions that cater to your child’s needs.
Our Approach:
- Regular Eye Exams: Early detection and monitoring are essential.
- Management Plans: Tailored to each child’s unique needs and lifestyle.
Effective Myopia Management Strategies
- Lifestyle Changes:
- Outdoor Activities: Encourage at least 2 hours of outdoor play per day.
- Screen Time Management: Limit prolonged use of digital devices and encourage regular breaks.
- Prescription Eye Drops:
- Low-dose atropine eye drops have been shown to slow myopia progression. The drops are applied before bedtime, and your child continues to use their regular glasses or contact lenses during the day. Research consistently shows that atropine treatment effectively slows the progression of myopia in children.
- Contact Lenses:
- Multifocal Contact Lenses: These lenses have different zones for seeing at various distances and help reduce the progression of myopia.
- Orthokeratology (Ortho-K): Specially designed contact lenses worn overnight to reshape the cornea and correct vision temporarily.
- Specialized Eyewear:
- Myopia Control Glasses: Glasses with lenses designed to slow myopia progression. Currently not available in the USA
