Dr. Monsalve Ward
Pediatric Optometry, Myopia Management.
Dr. Monsalve-Ward is a member of our pediatric team.
Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Monsalve-Ward is a first-generation doctor with a license to practice Optometry in three different countries.
She earned her 1st Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016 from Universidad de la Salle in Bogotá, Colombia, where she participated in multiple mission trips to remote areas of Colombia to treat ocular diseases in patients without access to medical care.
While attending the Universidad de la Salle in Bogotá, Dr. Monsalve-Ward was the first student to earn a concurrent 2nd Optometry degree with the Universidad Europea de Madrid in Madrid, Spain, allowing her to practice in both countries.
Dr. Monsalve-Ward then moved to the U.S. and earned her 3er Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston,MA, where she was part of a select group of international Optometrists in the advanced program.
As part of her training she completed with high honors a specialized pediatric rotation at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL, ranked as the #1 eye hospital in the U.S.
Dr. Monsalve-Ward is a board-certified optometrist, with a specialty in pediatric eye care and myopia management. Myopia management, refers to the treatment strategies that help slow the worsening of nearsightedness in children.
Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband exploring the Utah outdoors, traveling, and discovering the best Ramen and Colombian restaurants.
