Frequently Asked Questions

By examining your eyes, your doctor can assess not only your eye health and vision but also your general health. Regular eye exams are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Below are common questions and our answers about eye health, and vision care.

A detailed eye examination by an eye doctor should be done every year. Computerized eye checkups at optical shops are not as comprehensive.

After the initial examination, eye drops are used to dilate your eyes. Although this takes some time, it is crucial for a thorough eye checkup, which includes the following examinations to rule out any eye diseases:

  • Slit lamp biomicroscopic examinations
  • Autorefracto Keratometry
  • Applanation Tonometry
  • Detailed Fundus / Retinal Examination
A cataract is a clouding that develops in the natural lens of the eye or its envelope, ranging from slight to complete opacity, which obstructs the passage of light. Our eye functions like a camera where light from various objects passes through the clear cornea and natural lens. As the lens becomes clouded, our vision starts to blur. Although we can still see, the quality of vision worsens. As the lens becomes more clouded (matures), our vision deteriorates further.

LASIK is a highly effective procedure that improves vision and eliminates the need for glasses by reshaping the cornea (front of the eye) to alter its focusing power. This is achieved using a state-of-the-art excimer laser, making it an excellent treatment for a wide range of vision problems.

Most LASIK patients typically see quite well the day after their procedure and can usually resume most of their normal activities within 3-4 days.
