Rocky Mountain Eye Care Associates utilize and have on site the most sophisticated technology available to manage the many types of eye disease and problems we encounter on a daily basis.
Computerized visual field testing measures the peripheral or side vision. This is an important test we use to diagnose and monitor glaucoma. Visual fields are also used to detect neurological problems that can affect the part of the brain that “sees”. Patients on certain arthritis drugs are also monitored for retinal side effects of the drugs by visual field testing. |

Axial length measurements using the IOL Master more accurately predict the lens implant power for patients having modern cataract surgery. The shape of the cornea is measured along with the distance from the cornea to the retina. These measurements are then used to calculate the power of the lens needed for surgery.
Specialized photography is used to obtain images of the optic nerve, which then can be analyzed for the progression of glaucoma or other optic nerve disease. Photos can also be taken of the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, lens, and retina to document and follow disease. |

Laser inferometers are used to measure the thickness of the retina and optic nerve. This is valuable in the diagnosis of retinal or macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Corneal Topography measures the shape of the cornea for detection of corneal disease such as keratoconus, assists in the fitting of contact lenses, and is necessary for the planning of refractive surgery such as lasik. |

Angiography uses a chemical dye that enables a special camera to photograph the circulation of the retina.
It
is often used to diagnose macular or retinal degeneration and determine which type of treatment is best to maintain vision. |
